For Immediate Release
November 5, 2024

Harrisburg, Pa. — With recent reports of misinformation and bomb threats in Pennsylvania, RightCount Co-Chairs former Congressman Lou Barletta and former Governor Mark Schweiker released a joint statement urging citizens of the Commonwealth to resist misinformation tactics that threaten the integrity of the electoral process. Law enforcement continues to investigate these occurrences and officials say there is no credible threat. With high stakes and even higher tensions across the state, both leaders are calling on citizens to stay vigilant but also remain calm and patient.

“Pennsylvania’s elections are a cornerstone of our democracy, and their integrity must be preserved. Claims of wrongdoing deserve investigation, and legitimate issues should be reported and addressed. But baseless unfounded accusations, rumors and threats to public safety only serve to inflame tensions, creating confusion and undermining confidence in our voting system. Pennsylvanians deserve to have their voices heard without interference, and they deserve to have their votes counted accurately and fairly. We continue to urge everyone to report any problems if you see them but remember — don’t believe everything you hear. Our election officials work tirelessly to maintain the integrity of this process, and they deserve our respect and support as they continue with the vote count. We ask Pennsylvanians to trust these professionals, to refrain from making hasty assumptions, and to let the process play out.”

RightCount Pennsylvania emphasizes that Election Day is a moment to exercise patience and trust in the process. Misinformation, especially when spread without evidence, only serves to stoke division and fear. Congressman Barletta and Governor Schweiker urge all Pennsylvanians to rely on verified sources for election information, support their local election officials, and remember that every vote counts.

RightCount Pennsylvania is committed to promoting accuracy, integrity, and confidence in Pennsylvania’s elections. As the votes are counted, patience is more critical than ever to ensure the transparent and accurate outcome that all Pennsylvanians deserve.
