State Info

Our republican form of government relies on a functioning election system where voters have confidence in the outcome, no matter who wins. Here in Arizona, extremist rhetoric and outright falsehoods have undermined trust and put strain on that system, leading to threats against election officials. Our democracy cannot function if the public servants who administer our elections live in fear of violence, just for carrying out their civic duties.

RightCount is dedicated to honoring America’s Founding, upholding the Constitution and counting every vote. By working with firefighters, police officers, veterans and small business owners to educate Arizona voters on the integrity and accuracy of the electoral processes, RightCount will reduce the appeal of extremism for election doubters and build confidence in the outcome of elections.

FAQs

Can non-citizens vote in Arizona?

No. It’s illegal to vote in Arizona in any election if you are not a U.S. citizen. This is also true for federal elections in all 50 states.

Does Arizona have a strict Voter ID requirement?

Yes. Valid identification is required prior to receiving a ballot at any Election Day polling place, in-person early voting location or emergency vote center or from a special election board.

Who is in charge of ensuring Arizona’s elections are secure?

The Secretary of State is dedicated to ensuring the integrity of our elections. For more information, please contact the Voter Outreach Coordinator by phone toll-free at 1-877-843-8683 or by email. Local election officials and poll workers, everyday Americans from both parties, receive training to ensure strict compliance with standards that ensure transparency, accuracy and security in elections.

Are Arizona’s voting machines secure?

Arizona’s voting machines are not connected to the internet. All components of Arizona’s tried-and-tested voting system are certified according to state and federal law prior to use in any election for a federal, state, or county office. State certification includes a review of system documentation and/or conducting a demonstration and functionality test. Upgrades or modifications to an existing voting system require recertification.

How does Arizona make sure that election results are correct?

Another step to ensuring the election results are accurate is through post-election logic and accuracy testing of tabulation equipment. This testing must be performed by the officer in charge of elections after the official count has been completed but before the county canvass. The Arizona Secretary of State must canvass the results for any elections that include a federal, statewide, or legislative office, state appellate court and supreme court judges, and statewide ballot measures.

How do I confirm my ballot was received and accepted?

You may track the status of your ballot at my.arizona.vote to confirm that it was received and counted.

When is my mail-in ballot processed?

County election officials can start counting early ballots immediately upon receipt.

Has Arizona taken steps to avoid any instances of duplicate voter registration that may allow someone to vote more than once?

Arizona is an active participant in a multi-state database to combat voter fraud and check duplicate voter registrations.

Do county election officials provide viewing opportunities to ensure secure custody of ballots to the general public?

Yes. For any statewide, county, or legislative election, the County Recorder or officer in charge of elections shall provide a live video recording of the custody of all ballots while the ballots are present in a tabulation room in the counting center.

What were the audit results of the 2022 general election?

In accordance with state law, county election officers conducted a hand count of a sample of ballots to test the accuracy of the vote tabulation equipment if there is participation from the county political parties. Those counties that conduct the hand count are required by law to report the results to the Secretary of State. The 2022 hand count found no discrepancies, or discrepancies that did not impact the outcome of any contest. Click here to review 2022 hand count results by county.

How can I be sure state certification of election results are accurate?

As a matter of state law, certification is a mandatory, ministerial duty, meaning that officials have no discretion to refuse to certify accurate election results. RightCount is committed to protecting the certification process to help ensure that elections are concluded in a timely manner and the will of Arizona voters is recognized.

How do I become a poll worker?

Election officials and poll workers are people in your community. You can sign up to become a poll worker by contacting your county elections office.

Who do I call if I have a question about voting in Arizona?

If you have further questions, you can reach out to our office at elections@azsos.gov or by calling 1-877-THE-VOTE.
