Message from our State Chair

Eric Johnson — Former Senate President Pro Tempore

RightCount, State Chair

“Too many Georgians harbor doubt about the integrity of our elections, and the worst outcome for America is that those doubts cause voters to stop participating in elections. RightCount, through our commitment to protecting the rule of law in our vote-counting and certification process, is playing an important role in encouraging more people to recognize the integrity of elections here in Georgia and in other critical states across America.”

State Info

God has blessed America, but our freedom only survives if our election officials honor their oath to support and defend the Constitution. Election falsehoods and threats against election officials are growing problems that erode public trust in elections and the strength of our constitutional system of government. Our democracy cannot function if the public servants who administer our elections fear for their lives just for doing their jobs.

RightCount is dedicated to honoring America’s Founding, upholding the Constitution and counting every vote. By working with firefighters, police officers, veterans and small business owners to educate Georgia voters on the integrity and accuracy of the electoral processes, RightCount will reduce the appeal of extremism for election doubters and build confidence in the outcome of elections.

FAQs

No. It’s illegal to vote in Georgia in any election if you are not a U.S. citizen. This is also true for federal elections in all 50 states.

Does Georgia have a strict Voter ID requirement?

Yes.

Who is in charge of ensuring Georgia’s elections are secure?

The elections division of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office oversees all election activity, including voter registration and municipal, state, county, and federal elections. The Office of the Secretary of State works closely with county election offices to make sure that policies are followed and elections take place according to established laws and rules. Local election officials and poll workers, everyday Americans from both parties, receive training to ensure strict compliance with standards that ensure transparency, accuracy and security in elections.

What conservative third parties have assessed Georgia election laws and procedures deeming them to be secure?

In a recent independent study, the conservative Heritage Foundation found Georgia’s election laws, regulations and procedures to be among the most secure in America.

Are Georgia’s voting machines secure?

The voting machines that Georgians use to complete their ballots are not connected to the internet. This limits cybersecurity risks and protects machines from computer hackers. Additional security is provided through encryption, multifactor authentication, and role-based access controls. The machines also print a paper ballot, which is auditable. Having an “auditable” paper ballot ensures that, if election officials need to conduct an audit or recount, they can confirm that your ballot is valid.

What major election security reforms were instituted after the 2020 elections?

Senate Bill 202 was adopted by the Georgia General Assembly in 2021 and brings about a number of security enhancement changes in elections. For example, under the new law, voters who wish to cast their ballot by absentee ballot must provide their Driver’s License number or other forms of voter ID specified on the absentee ballot form and request their ballot at least 11 days before the election. You can check out all of the election process updates here.

How have Georgians reacted to these recent election reforms?

MIT’s Election Data and Science Lab, in conjunction with the University of Georgia surveyed registered voters on various aspects of updated voting processes in Georgia. Following the 2022 midterm elections, nearly all (97%) Georgia voters rated their interactions with poll workers as “good” or “excellent”. Almost 9-in-10 (89.7%) voters feel confident in the elections process.

How does Georgia make sure that election results are correct?
